Welcome to the Scientific Ecology of the future. Privacy is nearly gone, though with it has faded much of the social strictures and inequalities. The struggle is no longer against one’s birth race, gender, sexuality or religion, but the inborn genetic disposition of one’s capabilities. Warriors, Poets, and Surgeons are born, not made, and attempts at defying this are only pitied.
As science advanced the face of biodiversity and adaptability, and the culture advanced to embrace all comers, it was warfare advances which uncovered that we are all equally good at what we do, so long as we’re born with the genes for it.
Ultimately after the discovery of the Warrior Gene, it was uncovered that there are three basic subsets of genetics: Conflict, Harmony, and Individualist. From there the list was subdivided into six sets: Warrior, Cultured, Keeper, Caretaker, Seeker, and Creator.
Initial opposition for this was subdued when it was accepted that while one’s upbringing and environment have a hand in determining the final outcome, a list of people who ended up being people they weren’t genetically programmed to be the best at did not disprove the theory. Nations began to reorganize their cultures and educational systems to produce ‘optimized citizens’.
Still, even now, there are those who believe that the molecular coding of one’s cells don’t make a person who they ought to be. Just because you’re a best fit for some category, may not necessarily mean you want to or like doing it. Freedom of Choice initiatives are small, and rarely make it far. This is the tale of one such group, and those it has managed to bring into its employ, trying to break the trend.
Hello! I hope you’ve enjoyed things so far. If you’re interested feel free to submit a character. I’ll be running scenes as soon as I have four players, and I’m willing to take up to six. It’s in the story’s best interest for you to use the existing Natures, though you’re free to create new strengths, weaknesses, and subplots.
