From a distance, Arkham seems like any other town in Massachussetts. Sure, the folks down in the Silver Twilight Lodge act a bit odd, and the Curiosity Shoppe occasionally sells something a bit too curious, but Miskatonic University is respectable and the trains run on time.
Spend a little time in Arkham, however, and you’ll notice that something is… different. Something about the air just doesn’t seem right. Even on the brightest of days, it’s hard to shake the feeling of danger lurking around every corner. And the locals won’t speak on it– they either don’t notice, or they’re pretending not to. This is how it has always been.
The year is 1926, and it is getting harder to ignore. Reports of bizarre and horrific events are becoming more and more common. Mysterious gates to other worlds are appearing more and more frequently. Only a few know the truth. Something is coming. Something is coming soon.
This game is based on the board game Arkham Horror, which is in turn based on the works of H. P. Lovecraft. Your goal is to keep Arkham (and the world) safe from the Great Old Ones and their minions.
Though you do not need to be familiar with the game itself to join, I encourage you to play as Investigators from the game itself. The list can be found here: http://www.arkhamhorrorwiki.com/InvestigatorI have a few basic cards for character creation, but feel free to create your own. (Hint: The character backgrounds might give you all sorts of interesting subplot ideas)
While I intend for this to be more character and story driven than a typical game of Arkham Horror, remember that there are dark forces at work. Your character may be killed or driven insane if you are not careful.
