You made it.
An adult demigod surviving in the wider world outside of Camp Half-Blood is no easy feat. And it hasn’t been easy for you. You remain ever cautious of running afoul of a monster who caught the scent of a demigod in the wild. Any moment could turn into a fight for your life. Many have. All while being the child of a non-Olympian god to boot.
But still, you’ve made it.
Today something has lead you to Washington, DC. Perhaps you are on vacation, business, or maybe you simply live in the area. Whatever the reason, you’re here. And it’s fortunate you are.
Because today you may just save the world.

Welcome to Foreshock, a game based on the Heroes of Olympus series of books, taking place in the summer between the end of the Percy Jackson books and the start of the Heroes of Olympus series. Here I’d like to make a few notes, as that plot introduction was (intentionally) vague
I’m shooting for a game that feels something like a mix of modern fantasy and political thriller. Your character will be drawn into a conflict of earth shaking import hidden from mortal eyes in the shadows of the heavily Greek influenced Washington DC.
As you can tell by the write up, your character is the adult demigod child of a minor Greek deity (and by minor I mean non-Olympian and non-primordial). So somewhere between their early to 20s to early 30s would be preferable.
For those unfamiliar with the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus book series, it’s a world in which, while Greek and Roman myth take precedence, most mythology is true, so feel free to, in creating your character, also draw upon the myths of other cultures should you wish to and should they be appropriate to the character.
Because of your various characters’ close ages, many will likely have been in camp together (it’s a span of about 5 years, give or take depending on circumstances, but you’re on your own at 18). And because you’re all the children of minor gods, you will have all been put into Hermes’ cabin, meaning those of you closer in age will likely have known one another to some degree prior to the game’s events.
As far as character creation goes, due to the wide range of possibilities, I ask that you create your own cards.
In your write up, let me know who your character is. Where they grew up. What they’re like. Feel free to mention any quests your character may have done at camp, any traumatic or great events in their life, what they’ve done since leaving camp. And remember, as an adult demigod that has made it this far, your character is powerful. If you have any ideas on gifts given by, or powers inherited from, their divine parentage you would like, please don’t hesitate to bring it up here.
Nature - Who was your godly parent and what do you do? Something like “Bike Delivery Woman. Daughter of Boreas” or the like.
Strength - The main strength should be something your character is strong at in a mortal sense. It can be related to their parent’s domain or not. The first wild card, whenever you use it, should be something supernaturally strong about your character due to their parentage. Not a super power, mind, but just a really strong talent or trait.
Weakness - Your regular one treat like you would any other weakness. However, consider up front what you want your first wild one to be, as that will represent your character’s hamartia. It can be a positive trait taken to an extreme, or a clearly negative one. However you’d like to go about it.
Subplot - What would pull your character into world threatening intrigue? Are they just a natural hero? Extremely curious? Bored?
I’ve included some examples (not particularly strong ones, mind, just a quick template)
I’ll provide you with some assets representing a power and a gift from your godly parent at the start of the game.
Looking for a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 players.
Knowing Greek mythology will be more useful than knowing the Percy Jackson books, but if you wish to do research on it, the wiki is good:
