“You’ll soon find out how powerful dreams can be”
People told me I couldn’t make a good Storium game with a basic account. So I tried to do just that.
Please read this intro and the game rules to get the feel of the game before submitting a character. Thank you!
“It seems like a normal Sunday night. You have a quick shower before getting under your sheets. It’s late already and you try to get some sleep before school. Soon enough, you fade into slumber.
You wake up in a lone, cold cabin. You turn around for a bit and yell out. No one is there. Assuring yourself that it’s probably just a dream, you walk around for a while. But this is not your typical dream. You feel present, you feel conscious and aware of your choices. You try to explain this to yourself as you look, but there is no answer that comes to mind. That is, until you hear the outside door unlock.
You step out of the cabin. You shiver from the cold breeze. You enter the misty forest. “Is anyone there?” you scream. The trees echo back your words. But that’s all you hear. You walk for what seems like an eternity. And no one seems to be there. No one, except for the forest animals that start following you.
You are crying. There’s no one there with you. You turn to the side. The grey deer that has been walking with you raises itself. You notice that he is transforming. Soon enough, the animal that was walking by your side is now a full sized shadowy humanoid creature. It notices your fear and turns its head. You then notice its razor sharp teeth. Its smile makes you shiver, but you can’t seem to be able to stop walking. After a while, there is no animal around you. It’s only darkness.
That’s when, a flash of fire zooms next to you.
The dark monsters release a menacing shriek. You turn around and see three figures blasting fire and lightning through the mist. You scream out for help. Before you can do anything, a few of those shadow monsters disperse into nothing.
The three heroes blast and slice the rest of them. You stand there and watch as they clear out the dark creatures one by one. After the last one has become a pulp of black goo, the three saviors approach you. “Are you okay?” They ask. “Yes. I’m better now.” you reply. “Thank you for saving me.”
You agree to join them. One of them grabs you by the hand. Next thing you know, a light flashes and you are in another place. “Welcome!” a man wearing a red t-shirt exclaims while you try to regain focus. “My name’s Mark. Welcome to the Hub!”
And then, you wake up.
So was this really a dream? Well, yes and no. Yes, you had this whole adventure while you were asleep. No, it wasn’t all in your head. For the next few nights, you kept appearing in this “Hub” where you were greeted by this Mark person each time. Turns out, those black things that followed you? They were your “Terrorlings”, demon like creatures that feed off your biggest fears. They blend themselves into dreams by transforming into whatever might look normal inside the dream.
That’s where the heroes come in. They are all normal people of any age, gender, nationality. Most of them are inexperienced in battle, but they are all driven by one goal - saving people. They go into these dreams, night after night, battling Terrorlings and taking people back into the Hub. Most of these people become heroes themselves.
Just like you did. Soon enough, you were given a sword. You were taught to do magic and battle. You were grouped with two other people who you became good friends with.
Your training has finished and now, you are ready for your first real mission. Are you ready? Only time will show.”
