The Dark Lord has been slain. His black tower has crumbled, his armies have scattered. The century of warfare that defined the Fourth Age is over. And after all the songs and feasting, the Order of the Righteous Sword that saw that Dark Lord fall is left to clean up the mess.
The elves have been slaughtered. The dwarves have grown fat off the bloodshed. The orcish armies of the Dark Lord have been assimilated into penitential labor. And humanity is forced to govern a world it wasn’t ready to inherit.
At the border of the Bleak Lands of the former Dark Lord, the port city of Coldrock is wrought from stone and iron. Humanity watches over Coldrock’s population: they are inmates as much as citizens. Elven remnants prostitute their immortality for food and wealth. The dwarven gang of Anc Mac Morne controls a thriving underworld. Orcish prisoners of war are conditioned to be integrated into the Order through brutal labor and harsh conditions.
Coldrock is a noose made of raw hemp tight around a criminal’s throat. Coldrock is a fat purse ready to burst once someone plunges a knife into it. Coldrock is the lowest pit in which all scum and filth eventually settles. Coldrock is the last candle in a stiff breeze, a shining light that will prove that the races of the world can move on and heal.
All of these are lies. All of these are true.
Coldrock’s people will decide.
