In the city of New Valhalla, the real and the fictional live side by side. The Human population coexists with Anims, creatures of film and imagination; and Toons, immortal beings with a bizarre outlook on the world around them.
Every strange Anim power, and every individual Toon, seems to work under its own rules, its own laws of physics. Life in a city where at any moment a battle of errant monsters might level your workplace, or a mad scientist’s experiment could foul the water supply, is unpredictable and dangerous! But there are those determined to keep order: agents of the law, private detectives, and vigilante superheroes. Are their dreams of peace and prosperity possible, or is this mad city doomed to become a rubble of crime and chaos?
Inspirations: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (film), TaleSpin (TV), Strong Female Protagonist (Webcomic), The Dresden Files (books, TV, tabletop roleplaying game), Shadowrun (tabletop roleplaying game, books, computer game), Itras By (tabletop roleplaying game)
Style: Episodic, tongue-in-cheek, with a tendency to apply a gritty edge to things madcap and surreal.
Creative constraints: Few. The Narrator will follow Storium’s prescribed role to guide things along and set pace, but players are welcome to establish new details of the setting: creatures, powers, locations, characters, etc.
Goals and endpoint: We’re trying Storium on for size here. Experiment and have fun! There’s no set end to the story, but if things look to be running out of steam, I’ll see about spinning up a conclusion story arc to bring some closure.
