You are adventurers.
You delve into dungeons for treasure and glory. Maybe you have other motivations, but they are secondary. Treasure. Glory. Those are all that matter to you. Those are what drive you. Well, and monster slaying. Let’s throw that in there for good measure.
“What’s a monster?” some of those wizards in their ivory towers may ponder? “What makes them different than us?” they may ask. It’s simple really. You know the answer. You’ve seen it in their eyes. Everything that makes them different from us. It’s us versus them, really. That’s what it boils down to. Humanity against everything else. Maybe we’ll make alliances with the Elves and the Dwarves, but at the end the day, when the cards are down and the chips are played out, the only people who have our backs are our own kind.
It’s kill or be killed. Survival of the fittest. And the strongest survive. They survive by plundering the secrets of the past. By delving into the tombs of the ancients and ripping out their dark knowledge to use for the war that is coming. It’s us versus them, after all.
So you, adventurer, you’ve been recruited. Strap on your sword belt, ready your spells and healing salves. Let’s tread where no man has tread before. Let’s save Humanity and arm them in the war to come.
