Ryan called. He wants to get together. To go camping. This weekend. Nothing too crazy. Probably just invite a half dozen people or so. An opportunity to get out of the city for a change. Says he knows a great place to fish, to hike and go swimming. Said he just needs to get away and forget about the Restaurant for a weekend.
Plus there’s going to be a meteor shower and there’s no better place to watch it than out away from the city lights.
It does sound good.
There was something in his voice though. A quiet desperation in his tone maybe. Some need for you to get together. He mentioned past promises to hang out and how he finally wanted to make good on that.
Whatever the reason it would be good to get away, even just for the weekend.
What you don’t know, what you couldn’t have known when you agreed to go is that this weekend is going to be unlike any you’ve ever had for something awful and beyond human reckoning awaits you in those dark and isolated woods.
