“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” - H.P. Lovecraft
Arkham, Massachusetts. September 1930. With the days getting shorter and the leaves changing color, the people of Arkham are hip deep in campaign season. Most have decided who they will cast their vote for, but recently, posters for a new challenger have been spotted around the county.
“Marian Leary for Sheriff of Essex County” they read, in deep red ink. A sinister looking man, no one in the corridors of power seems to know much about him. The posters advertise a speaking tour, with stops in most major towns in Essex County, kicking off in Arkham on Labor Day.
This story is anchored in Lovecraftian mythos, but doesn’t need to adhere strictly to it. I’m hoping we can create a story where our characters will be pushed to the limits of their abilities, and possibly beyond, as they encounter a new, unknown world.
