All is not well in Carson City. High in the sky, a full moon sits and refuses to move. Even in the middle of the day, its lazy malevolence is visible to anyone who cares to look up. Astronomers and other experts are clueless but they all agree on one thing. It is not our moon.
For almost two days the city has slid slowly into panic. Among the more superstitious folk, the dread moon is already being heralded as an omen of the end times, and it will not be long before this fear grips the general public. The police forces are stretched to their absolute limit dealing with sudden outbursts of madness and violence. Whatever is going on, this is beyond their power.
In the midst of this chaos, little attention is being paid to the death of an aspiring stage magician, or the theft of a rare book from the basement archives of the University. The supernatural community of Carson City - ever fragmented - is coming together to do what it can. The resistance they can offer to what may very well be the end of the world is doubtful at best. But they are all that there is.
And somewhere, out in the darkness between universes, the Red Tyrant sleeps. Its dreams reverberate throughout reality, growing to a vile crescendo. Should it ever awaken… God help us all.
Dreams of the Red Tyrant is a Lovecraft inspired action story, set in the late 1920’s USA. In the shadows of the city, a dangerous cult is working to bring about The Awakening, a ritual that will free their god from his shackles. In preparation they have killed or driven many of those initiated in the other side from Carson City. Using foul magics and summoned monstrosities, they have upset the balance.
The players are minor characters in the supernatural underworld, too insignificant or new to the scene to figure into the cult’s plan. Now, they must step up and do their best to stop the return of a dark god.
