The plane was on approach to Seattle’s Sea-Tac Airport, cruising just under the heavy cloud cover. The Captain had just announced that you’d be landing in just a few minutes. With seatbelts fastened, you sat back and listened as the landing gear lowered and locked into place. A searing white light suddenly blinded you and a sharp pain stabbed through your skull. You were dazed for a moment, but your vision eventually returned to normal.
Then the lights went out.
The rumble of the engines ceased. The lights of Seattle you’d been admiring from the window winked out, leaving a bleak, black landscape. A child was crying and someone started to speak when the plane suddenly lurched…and began to plummet. You heard someone screaming then and you are pretty sure it was you.
This is an adventure in S.M. Stirling’s Emberverse. The story will take place at the beginning of the first novel in the series, Dies the Fire. It is a game of survival as all technology suddenly and mysteriously ceases to function. If you are not familiar with the books, you can always reference the television show, Revolution, which I always thought was a pretty sad rip-off of the Emberverse.
Please feel free to create your own cards. The ones that I’ve supplied are merely suggestions. Be creative.
This is my first time narrating a game, so be gentle with me. I’m only going to allow four or five players until I get my feet under me. Have fun!
