Humanity outgrew Earth. Civilization advanced to the point where population density outgrew the planet’s sustainability based on the amount of remaining natural resources and available space in which to live. Fortunately for them, human technology had progressed to the point where space travel made it possible to find a new home. So as a growing family leaves its starter home to find bigger and better, humanity left the cradle of its birth to find new homes. Unfortunately for you, humanity left you behind when it abandoned the Earth. Why? That’s up to you. That was ten years ago. Nature began reclaiming its territory and swallowing signs of civilization shortly after the world stopped, and you are left with a fraction of humanity’s population on a wild, deserted planet that was stripped bare in preparation of the Exodus.
