Technology has blurred the lines between worlds; physical, virtual, or otherwise.
Twelve years ago, Hanoku Corp invented the Tentori I device that they claimed allowed users to enter the realm of the afterlife and communicate with the dead. Using their own “lifeforce” to power the Tentori I many users died when they spent too much time connected, prompting its use to be restricted to trained and licensed professionals called Empyrean Divers.
A huge market erupted around divers offering a variety of services communicating back and forth between the living and the dead. Many divers have equipment to record their dives and share them with their customers as virtual-reality experiences.
Now, Hanoku Corp has announced a world changing update to their tech, the Tentori X, and are searching for the best divers to join their testing. And finding divers willing and capable has been harder than they imagined…
Premise & Tone: The goal is to be a not too-serious exploration of the implications being able to visit the afterlife, setting boundaries around the capabilities of technology, and dealing with death in a world where death appears to have become less of a mystery.
Number of Players: A small group of 2 - 3 players max.
Player Roles: Each player takes on the role of an Empyrean Diver that has spent the last few years communicating with the dead for clients.
Power Scale: Characters can be legitimately using authentic Hanoku Corp devices, modded tech, be licensed or not, or total con artists savvy enough to fool the living; the key thing is that the characters are the “best damn divers money can buy”.
First Scene Will Be: A presentation of a recorded dive followed by questions from a Hanoku Corp recruiter looking for the best candidates to join the testing.
