The Kingdom of Reven wasn’t always peaceful. Long ago the kingdom and all other neighboring tribes and clans were under siege by demons, great and small and in horrifying numbers. The tribes all fought back against the menace, resulting in a long, drawn out war that was later dubbed ‘The Demon wars’.
Once the wars were run, many of the other nonhuman races found their numbers too small to survive outside of Reven, so took shelter in the wall of the kingdom as refugees of war. However, as time went on, things began to structure themselves much differently.
The humans became very discriminatory towards the nonhuman races, often forcing them into jobs that don’t pay well or keep them out of the nobility. The hunters, however, have had their status raised over time to be as noble as the knights of the land, so long as the demon attacks continue.
However, it has been many years since the demon wars, and the minority races (and maybe a few low class humans or observant hunters) know for a fact that no demon would be stupid enough to keep coming back. They’ve clearly learned their lesson, and demons are clever things…… and yet, there are still public executions of demons that still try to sneak in to Reven to attack the royalty.
Something isn’t right here, so when one finally escapes, you’re prepared to do what it takes to find out the truth of what is going on, if if the penalty of aiding a demon is death.
