In a world plagued with monsters, no one has escaped untouched. Nothing has been the same since the Event. Before their world was normal and the dark underbelly of the city was never seen - except in glimpses by the unlucky few. But now, the paranormal world has overtaken the city and claimed it for itself.
Vampires, witches, werewolves, they’ve overturned the tables. Humans, those who haven’t scattered, have found themselves for the first time at the bottom of the feeding change.
Of course, some like Ava, have found themselves in a very different situation. The once human girl, Ava, now a newly turned vampire, has gotten more than she bargained for. For others, those holding dear to their ties of humanity, seek justice. Or perhaps just good ole fashioned vengeance. Vittoria has lost everything to these monsters and she’s ready to draw blood. She won’t stop until they’re dead, every last one of them.
James, a centuries-old vampire, has long last any of his ties to humanity. But for all his ruthlessness and cold hardened soul, he can’t help but find displeasure in the aftermath of the Event. It’s been six months, and for a vampire, he’s sick of the sight of blood draining into the streets.
Matty, well, he figures he probably shouldn’t have an opinion. He’s dead, after all. But as much as he would like to leave it all behind for the chance of peace - his time on earth isn’t done yet. He has to finish whatever his…unfinished business is or he’ll never know rest.
Despite their differences, the four find themselves facing the same goal: finding Amara.
One of the few witches left in town, they each set out to find her, each hoping for different things. Matty just wants to know how to find peace. Vittoria wants the names of the monsters that slaughtered her family. Ava wants to find her maker. James wants to undo the past.
Amara hasn’t been an easy woman to find until they each reach a trip that she will be a Petite Mort.
Setting out to find answers, these unlikely fellows find themselves meeting each other in the halls of Petite Mort.
