Soul Sibling to my other game “The Great Misfortune of being Melody Haggard.” Basically the spooky edition.
Features: Time Travel (kinda), Rotating narrator, No Format, Slow pace, CARDLESS
Crow has always been able to see the dead. Souls bound to the earth by a “What if?” that was never answered. Early on he learned not to fear them, as they had very little influence on the physical world. Instead he pitied the lost souls, sentenced to wandering the earth unseen by all but him, wondering how their life might’ve been if it hadn’t all gone wrong.
The first time Crow befriended a ghost, he was ten. She was a girl his age who wondered: “What if I had listened to my mother and stayed away from the river?” When she showed him where she was buried, he discovered a new facet of his ability: upon touching the headstone, he was transported to the dead person’s life, or at least, a simulation of it.
In this dream-like state, Crow was able to interact as if he’d been around and prevent the girl’s death. Once he awoke, he found her grave was still there, time had not changed, but her spirit was gone, freed once her “What if?” was answered.
Crow has now just started his first year of college, hoping to be a mortician, and in his free time he goes to cemeteries and helps free ghosts from limbo. Nice hobby.
You are one such ghost, and while you wait in the queue for freedom you are able to join Crow when he jumps into another’s life. The quicker you save the others, the sooner he’ll be able to help you.
