It was a dark and stormy night in the autumn of 1959. The wealthy and eccentric Mr. Black, noted industrialist and philanthropist, had invited a small number of distinguished individuals to enjoy a little dinner and entertainment at his hilltop mansion in the rugged Virginia countryside.
It was a lovely evening despite the storm. There was fine food and drink accompanied by pleasant conversation. Everything was going well until the evening was abruptly marred by that most dastardly of crimes: murder.
Now Mr. Black is dead, and his guests are left stuck in his mansion. The storm has washed out the only road, and the phone lines are dead. Even the power has gone out.
The six people left stranded at Mr. Black’s stately home now are left with the disturbing conclusion that one of them must be his killer. If the killer is to be caught before they can cover their tracks, it will be up to them to solve the mystery on their own.
Can the suspects band together and solve the crime? Or is someone about to get away with murder?
OOC information:
This is going to be a fairly short and silly murder mystery. Humor is encouraged, historical accuracy is not a priority. Inspiration will be heavily drawn from the 1985 Clue film adaptation.
Scenes will alternate between opportunities to investigate and gather clues and opportunities to accuse your suspects. The game will end when someone works out the killer’s identity, the weapon used, and the location where the murder happened. If no one has successfully solved the mystery by the end of ten scenes, the murderer will get away with their crime.
The murderer will be randomly chosen from the participants. If you would like to play but would prefer not to be the murderer, send me a private message to let me know.
Everyone who is not the murderer will have their own unfortunate secret they are trying to hide from the others. Please let me know if you have a preference for a particular sort of secret. Please keep these hidden from one another until revealed in the game.
I’ll be taking six participants, one for each classic Clue character. When applying, please check to see if yours has already been claimed. Feel free to be inventive and put your own unique spins on the characters. Custom cards are welcome, particularly for strengths and weaknesses.
