The World:
Throughout human history the world has experienced strange phenomena involving the supernatural and inexplicable. Witch hunts, Extraterrestrial sightings, and Psychic testing, among other occurrences, have brought the mysteries of the strange and mythical to the realm of common knowledge. However, what had appeared to be myth and speculation has become a budding truth within the recent past. Over the past 20 years an upwelling in the prevalence of people with superhuman powers has begun to take center stage in the consciousness of the human race. The newly exposed “Empowered” are caught in an uncertain state; presented with infinite potential for opportunity and danger. You are one of these “Empowered” and have been recruited by the eccentric and driven Dr. Märchen Idalia, an idealist who wants to unite the “Empowered” and others under one unifying community in order to herald in a new era of expanding human horizons. You have recently began living and training on the TEINA (tee-in-ah) airship Chrysanthemum; a small nation that the doctor uses as a base of operations to enlist and train the up-and-coming “Empowered”, as well as a means to begin spreading his ideas of a cultural renaissance that will benefit everyone.
Meanwhile, a resurgence of activity in an ancient and long-forgotten power has also been stirred up by the recent events. A shadowy group of Immortal beings have begun to make their move against the newly budding “Empowered”. These Immortals, known as the “Forgotten Gods”, have been using their immense power and influence to shape the world for their desire and amusement, while others of their kind have chosen to take a back seat and silently peer upon the world with watchful eyes. The uprising of the “Empowered” has struck panic and derision in some of these Immortals and factions within the “Forgotten Gods” have begun to mobilize against the superhuman threat. In fear of losing their proprietary control over the human race, some of these “Forgotten Gods” have been stealthily hunting and neutralizing those who have shown potential for power. However, neutralization does not mean the same thing to all of the “Forgotten”. Splintering loyalties have started to form among the Immortals; showing varying degrees of response among their kind from genocide to embracing allegiance.
Dr. Märchen Idalia has entrusted you with the task of racing against the extermination of the “Empowered” by locating others who have started to develop powers. He has also tasked you with gaining allies amongst humans and those “Forgotten” who are sympathetic to your cause. You stand as humanity’s sword and shield against the long invisible threat of the “Forgotten Gods” who seek to maintain absolute control.
