The carnival arrives with little fanfare. It’s mysterious and magical. You see things that maybe you wish weren’t real. For a night, you’re taken out of your world.
Spend your money on the games and try to win a prize for your sweetheart. Enjoy the carousel and the cotton candy. Marvel at the magicians and contortionists.
There are rumors of late-night parties where any desire can be satisfied and any curiosity fulfilled.
Are you brave enough to join the cast?
OOC notes
The only NPC who can’t be played by a player is the Ringmaster. Anyone else is fair game.
If you take the Fey-blooded Strength, you also need to take the Fey-blooded Weakness, unless you clear it with the Narrator first.
Given that the name of the carnival is Carnivale Macabre, there’s a certain amount of darkness involved. Feel free to go with themes that are horror or spooky in nature. One of the NPCs is a ghoul and finding him human flesh every so often is part of the carnival’s nature. Some of the other NPCs have similarly odd dining habits, but they do their job and do it well, so it’s okay.
I’d like to keep this reasonably safe for work, so I’d prefer it if you reference the grotesque or horrific without going into explicit detail. Something like, “He lifted his head, showing the viscera still clinging to his lips” would be fine.
One thing: I will NEVER use rape as a plot device on a PC. If you want to play it that way, that’s fine, but please put a notice at the top of your post to warn us. I will be more likely to drop rocks on your head, have a parasitic extra-dimensional being sharing space in your skull, or have a long-lost relative or bounty hunter appear at your show than to say “And you’re raped. Have fun with that.” Just…no.
Let me know if something here isn’t clear and I’ll expound.
