“In those days, all seemed lost. It didn’t matter how many battles were won, how many great heroes laid down their lives, the armies of the invaders were endless. Clan after clan was driven back, obliterated, wiped out. Villages where burned, and great hillforts sacked. Ancient, sacred places were defiled, and ruined. It was a time of ash and broken bones.
Then came Breska.
Some say she was born of the gods, others, that she was the rage of our people made manifest. I knew her better than most, and both could be so. But to me, she was a dear friend, who always laughed first and loudest, and split the shields of our enemies! For it was Breska who did the impossible, and united the clans! Breska who brought low the unconquerable invaders on the very slopes of the sacred mountains!
Through her we had hope, hope of a unified people. Of all the clans brought together, at last, under one throne.
But then, as these things go, she went and died on us.
But of course, you know this, don’t you?
I hear you were there.”
This is going to be a game about BARBARIANS. Smelly, hairy, angry. Haunches of meat will be all over the place. There will be lots of mead too probably. Draw on every trope you can!
The base premise of the game is that the would-be-unifier of your people has just died, right in front of you. The manner of her death will, no doubt, be somewhat debated. From there I don’t have too much of a structure, and will try to go with the flow a bit! Perhaps you will try and take up her work, or undo it, or just scrap with each other. It’s going to be quite a short game, so lets just have fun with it!
