Your character has received an invitation to Acheron Court, a stately home in the English countryside belonging to one Vincent Witham, an older gentleman with a somewhat eccentric nature. Upon arriving, they will be informed that their services are required to retrieve several very valuable artefacts and that the fate of the world is resting on their shoulders. Compensation is very generous indeed (ranging from money to cancelling of debts to erasure of criminal charges - whatever will convince them to stay) and without much time to spare a rag-tag group will be assembled to tackle the seemingly insurmountable odds.
Can you overcome the obstacles in your past and future to help save the world, or has the deck been stacked against you?
OOC: The game will start with the first mission - characters will be coming together for the first time and won’t know one another prior to that. You first need to create a character that would be invited to take part in a daring heist, so think carefully about what skills might seem attractive to a kooky old man with too much money to burn.
Magic exists in this world, though it is a guarded secret and very few know the full extent of its reach. Your character may or may not be aware of magic - known by adepts as ‘amina’ and tapped into by mages, mystics and sorcerers from all walks of life.
When creating a character feel free to pick from one of the pre-described archetypes or adapt your own from the Major Arcana. I expect most people will stick with their archetype’s strengths, weaknesses and subplot but if you have an idea about how to combine several into an interesting and coherent character, go right ahead!
