Long ago, Interlopers from the North conquered the Kingdom. The People were forced to flee – loyal subjects and ferals alike – exiled to the Wild Plains beyond the River Vast lest they be found and slaughtered during one of the Interlopers’ barbaric hunts.
Yet now, when hope has long since fled, rumors have reached the People that the Interlopers have migrated back to the North. Perhaps it is time, at last, for the Elephant King to return to his throne and for the Kingdom to know peace again? The King needs volunteers brave enough to cross the River Vast once more and scout out the truth.
The journey will be perilous. If this news has reached the King, then it has surely pricked the ears of feral scavengers as well. Some of those beasts and brutes will doubtless also brave the trek, hoping to tear what they might from the corpse of the once-great Kingdom.
