NOTE: This story will be based on the Murder Mystery Party game “A Taste for Wine and Murder”. It is kind of an experiment within Storium, and I’m not sure how successful it will be.
~You must be openly available to communicate through e-mail so that we can share information without revealing it to the other players.
~I don’t know yet exactly how it will play, though I don’t foresee much use of cards.
~Natures are non-negotiable; don’t change them.
~There is only one sub-plot, which will be shared by all: To find the murder; don’t make a new one.
~I haven’t created strength or weakness cards - those are for you, but again, I don’t know how much we will use them so don’t fret yourself too much over them.
~Please make sure you pick an avatar, and you also get to create your own name. Get plenty creative in your character description as well, making sure you follow your nature card.
~So that I know you have read all this, please send me an e-mail at meegsschmi@yahoo.com when you submit your application.
~Expect to be asked to make a revision on your application to reflect the slightly more detailed introductions which won’t fit on the nature card.
~The FBI Agent and the Scottish tourist are optional characters and are not suspects in the murder. I can play either through the narrator as NPCs. However, they do have their important parts to play and feel free to apply as them if you like! I won’t hold up the game if we don’t have them, though. All the other characters are suspects and we’ll need all of them in order to play.
~I hope I haven’t scared you off with all of this! I really am a fun narrator, I promise. I try to be very flexible.
=========================================================================
You are in Sonoma Valley, California. Five years ago, Henry Grapefoot, owner of the prestigious Grapefoot Wine Estates, mysteriously disappeared during the Valley’s annual wine festival. A coordinated search at the time turned up no clues and the case was eventually labeled a cold one.
Now, it is once again time for Sonoma Valley’s Annual Wine Festival. Last night, family and friends gathered at the Grapefoot Estate’s mansion to celebrate the festival and remember the reminisce and remember the missing Henry.
At midnight, as everyone was retiring to their respective rooms, a minor earthquake shook the Valley. Floors in the mansion buckled, including an old wooden floor in the wine cellar. Henry’s well preserved body was discovered under the cedar planks.
The case is no longer cold, and it’s no longer about a missing person. It’s a clear-cut homicide.
And you are a suspect.
