The great Predoran Empire was once feared throughout the land for its military might. It ruthlessly conquered all neighboring territories until just two sovereign nations were left to stand on their own against its power: the seafaring state of Covar, and the mysterious thick jungle lands of Iza. Even much of Covar fell – reduced to just several cities on the mainland - before the carnage halted.
Modern scholars are still in heated debate about what exactly caused the Predorans to call for peace. The only thing known is that they abandoned their conquest after the Empire’s first - and last - confrontation with the Izans. Thus, the known world fell into its first great period of peace in over a century.
Covar and Iza flourished, for the first time in recent history able to devote resources into the arts rather than their armies. Covar in particular entered an age of unrivaled wealth, and became the vast trading nation it is today. The Izans, to their credit, have stayed as secretive as ever; though there have been more and more sightings of Izans roaming outside of their homeland as of late.
The Empire of Predora, however, did not share in the world’s good fortune. For so long their economy and culture had been one solely based on violence and warfare, that when suddenly there were no wars to fight, the Predoran people didn’t know what to do. Soldiers were left with no income. the nation’s great Cave Bears began being bred for royalty rather than battle. Poverty hit record high rates, and the outer settlements of the Empire fell into chaos.
Adventuring, dungeon-delving, and treasure hunting has become the best, if not safest, way to earn a living. You are a Predoran, or a visitor of Predora, who has found yourself short of gold, struggling to get by day to day. In the great Predoran capital Dambi, notices have been posted and word spread that a nobleman known as Elessar Sandwind has need of a team of adventurers for a dangerous mission. It is also said, and stressed, that he pays very, very well.
Unsure of what you may be getting yourself into, you decide that it couldn’t hurt to check it out…

You’ll be playing an adventurer - by choice or necessity - who’s trying to make some cash. The game will start out with the party meeting Elessar and each other, and then you’ll set out on your first adventure.
The game isn’t story based or super structured. You’ll basically be playing as characters exploring and discovering the hidden and lost lore of this fantasy realm (and fighting some baddies on the side). You’ll begin by taking the nobelman’s job, but who knows? You might, as a party, decide that you’d rather slip off to Covar to do something more interesting. I’ll roll with the punches.
This is the story of your characters and their adventures. You are not chosen heroes, you are not destined to save the realm. You’re just trying to get by, just trying to serve your own goals. This Iisn’t the story of Predora. This is the story of you.

It is important to note that communication is very important to me, so if you have any questions or concerns let me know. We can work through any issues as a group instead of letting them ruin our fun!
Speed: As a group, we’ll figure out what speed works best for us. I would prefer that we complete at least one or two scenes a week, but whatever we all decide works best will be fine.
Size: Anywhere between three to six players. I will try to make sure that the characters submitted will play off each other well, and will give you guys a chance to form any in-character relationships before we start.
Tense: Third person, past OR present tense, either is fine. Just no first or second person, please!
NPC Control: If it seems like an important NPC, (named, is playing a significant part in the narrative at the time) don’t control them. If it’s someone like a bartender bringing you a drink, that’s fine. If in doubt, ask! Also, don’t control another player’s character without their consent.
Challenges: Unless otherwise stated, don’t write the exact outcome of the challenge. Lead up to it, and then let me jump in and tell you what happened. Also, weak outcomes do NOT equal failure! Don’t be afraid to use your weakness cards - remember that you’re roleplaying your character, so do what they would do.
Not all scenes will have challenges. If you guys feel like you want it, there can just be some downtime scenes as well for you guys to just interact. (I might throw in some fun challenges in those, though, depending on where you guys take it!)
Card Mechanics: There are a few special card mechanics and rules I’ll be implementing in this game. Please take a look at the google doc for more information, as well as to skim over some of the lore so you can make the most of your character!
Google Doc: Please read through all of the card mechanics and at least skim the world lore so you can make an appropriate character. I should also have a Looking for Players post up in the forums if you want to ask questions.
