It is 2202 and the great war of 2201 is over, the British Empire triumphant over the forces of Greater Germany. The imperial seat on Mars is secure, peace has settled on the many colonies of humanity, and the rebuilding has started. Queen Victoria II has been magnanimous in victory. The Royal Navy secures the jump gates between stars.
Yet all is not well; there have been many shocks to society. Not just the damage from the war, but the knowledge that there are aliens and they do not wish us well. While the combined forces of the Royal Navy and the Navy of New South Africa beat off the alien invasion fleet that sought to aid Greater Germany, questions have been asked by foreign ambassadors. How much did the crown and MI5 know about this? What about the rumours of alien artefacts on the penal planet of New Brighton?
Humanity is far from united. In the aftermath of the war the A.I.s, thought defeated and destroyed long ago, have reappeared. Naming themselves ‘The Culture’, now they are apparently friends of the Empire. Deep suspicion remains as to their motives.
You are a member of the MI5 ‘Deniable Assets’ division. You were recruited because of your skills and your loyalty to the Queen. It is your role to do your duty, and complete the missions you are assigned to keep the empire safe in a vicious universe.
