Beneath the four-banded face of the Dreaming Moon, the oasis kingdom of Gujaareh sprawls along the banks of a great river. Visitors to Gujaareh’s capitol, Hananja’s City, are told of the kingdom’s holiest principle with a simple aphorism: Hananja’s City obeys Hananja’s law. It is both affirmation and warning - for Hananja is the goddess of dreams, and keeping those dreams peaceful is a matter of life and death as well as faith.
Superimposing Gujaareh is the land of dreams itself: Ina-Karekh. Those trained in the magical art of dreaming are as gods in this place; meanwhile, the unwary risk falling into eternal nightmare. Yet when the horrors of dreaming escape Ina-Karekh to prowl Gujaareh’s streets in waking, neither dream-masters nor novices are safe.
So come, come, stranger! Be welcome in Hananja’s sight. Sit, have tea, and always remember to be at peace. Or else.
