I was discovering hobbies on a humble November night in 2025.

I burned out on writing something a while back when my job became especially stressful. I wanted to get back in the hobby again.

However, I did not want to repeat the mistakes of the past. All my hobbies have been solitary. The games I play are single player, my physical activity is working out, and I enjoy activities such as whittling – and of course – reading and writing.

However, in the back of my mind I asked myself this:

“Who are you going to be able to talk to this about?”

That question kept eating away at me, and I realize the deeper I delved into these solitary hobbies, the more I alienated myself from others.

I tried denying it for so long, but I am a social creature.

I need book clubs so I can rant about what I read to others, and here their hot takes on the characters I love.

I need to start playing team sports, embracing the camaraderie and toxicity that comes with it.

I want to write in an environment where people can critique and engage with what I say.

I value community and shared struggle.
