They call cities concrete jungles, but Black Oaks is more of a forest, larger and more sprawling. The buildings are like ancient redwoods reaching together beyond sight to allow only small glimmers of light cast by the sun or moon.

The denizens of the city are more akin to woodland creatures. Predators and prey walk among each other, the latter doing their best to survive among the former.

This is the story of a young woman who in an effort to help others stepped from the safety of a well lit path into the shadows of the concrete forest.
