“You can find meanness in the least of creatures, but when God made man the devil was at his elbow. A creature that can do anything. Make a machine. And a machine to make the machine. And evil that can run itself a thousand years, no need to tend it.”
—The Hermit Blood Meridian
theme: far from any road
In the future…
In the future, mankind fights a battle for survival against a genocidal artificial intelligence codenamed Lilith.
After it exterminates most of humanity and drives the few survivors mad with bloodlust, or into hiding, Lilith suddenly stops. Nobody knows why, but after years of war, everyone welcomes the ceasefire.
Caravans begin to unite the spread over camps. The cities remain occupied, and danger lurks beyond machines and marauders, but a small convoy aims to drive into the desert and risk it all to score a win for humanity.
In the present…
In the summer of 2001, you have no idea how the world will end. Until it comes knocking.
Two time travelers arrive one night to give you a glimpse of the horrors to come. One will hunt you down to kill you, the other is here to protect you, to protect all of humanity.
From behind the curtain:
This is a story heavily inspired by Terminator, and it uses a lot of themes from the original movie, and even a slightly modified but very similar premise.
You are a nobody, working late night a blue-collar job when a chance to be a hero, or a casualty, sweeps in from beyond time.
Not everything may be as it seems, and there will be hiccups along the way, but here’s hoping it’ll be a fun ride.
