It’s been a long week of classes and everyone is ready to unwind. Even faculty have loosened their ties and undone the top buttons of their robes. The student body are making plans. Groups of students gather at the Quad to get ready to head out together either out to the ‘Real’ or to one of the numerous frat parties on campus, It’s Friday, and partying is nigh.

You are a new student at Quantum State, it’s been a weird first week even for those of you not new to magic and weird science. You’re keen to head back to the Real for a bit, but you also want to mingle with fellow students.

Quantum State University exists in a small pocket universe of approximately 5 cubic kilometers adjoining San Francisco in the early 21st Century, although it is linked by portals to other pockets that nestle up against other parts of the world, some are marked on the map in every student handbook, others you might find by accident.

The campus is a self governing entity, the university and it’s pocket universe are run by the Board of Administration chaired by Principal Veronica Hardman, and advised by a large faculty, and sometimes by the active Student Union and various fraternities, sororities, and societies created by the students.

Like all universities in the real world as well as the magical, QSU is a hotbed of feverish studies, campus and student politics, and er hot beds.

As well as internal friction, QSU is preparing students for a life in a multiverse of potential threats and opportunities. Some of those are aware of the university and may try to subvert it for their own ends.

Other forces may well try to recruit you for future careers, once you graduate.
