For centuires, the red planet has been a source of fascination to scientists, authors, and dreamers. What secrets does the planet hold? What resources are there for exploitation?
In 2188, the governments of the world put aside their differences to fund a massive project to send humans to Mars. With the successes in the permanent station at the L2 Lagrange Point and the first mining colony on the Moon a new era in space exploration continues with the mission to Mars.
Fourteen years of construction, projections, simulations, failures, successes, training, setbacks, debates, media madness, every obstacle imaginable.
Now it’s ready. The engine ring used for the majority of the transport with spinning hardpoints to reverse acceleration. The cylinder for the crew to travel in and act as landing vehicle. The EVA suits for emergency space repairs. The special suits for use on the Martian surface.
For the lengthy journey a single-gender crew was selected from a worldwide search. After three years of training, practice and hard work they have assembled at Cape Canaveral, Florida, to meet the press before departing on a shuttle to L2 station.
