In a modern world where magic exists but isn’t really believed in, a man mourns the death of his wife. She died in childbirth, leaving him to raise the child alone. But he blames the child for her death and doesn’t take the proper precautions to keep the child safe from faeries. The child is taken early in its infancy, replaced with a changeling, and the father knows it. But, because the changeling isn’t to blame for the death of his wife, he allows the faeries to keep his child and raises the changeling as his own. Meanwhile, the human child grows up in the Fae Courts. But what happens when a curious witch interferes?
