All the Fires of Heaven

Welcome!

Why burn’st above thou heav’nly fyres,
To light man’s way, or light men’s pyres?

–Anon. (couplet taken from a scrap recovered from the wreckage of the Imperial Library of Qarru; est. Rec. -300)

Beckoning the daemon grows easier. It takes most any shape I will, and with sufficient focus I can bring it forth for over an hour, unminded. Now that I have the knack of it, I find myself relying more upon the creature with each passing day, and not just to spare my hands the constant toil of my exile. These steppelands of the southern Veln are hopelessly remote. Not even the new tribes venture here. There is no one. And so, I summon the daemon for its company. Reason tells me that my creation has only such self as I lend it; yet the daemon is a voice, one apart from mine, and I have come to appreciate this even if the truth of it is that I am no better than a madman talking to his own reflection.

–Excerpt from the journals of Nav Danekae, dated 17th Helar, Rec. 598.

ALL THE FIRES OF HEAVEN is a sword-and-sorcery fantasy story set in a jointly created world of magic and intrigue.

Long ago, in a simpler age, humankind stumbled onto the seemingly impossible: a hidden city of immense magical power, empty and free for the taking. Suddenly thrust head-first into mysterious forces they barely understood, humans leapt ahead. In their wake, chaos consumed the world of Telor.

But time tempers. Humans learn. With a few centuries to rebuild out of the rubble of the past, people have perhaps grown to be wiser and more measured with their power.

Or have they?
