What would happen if pine trees started growing apples? Would pineapples, as we know them today, have to be renamed? If apples start growing on pine trees, what happens to apple trees? Why are pineapples called pine-apples if they’re not apples and they don’t grow on pine trees?

I’ve been pondering this on and off for three years now, and have come to the conclusion that pineapples are just plain weird.

They taste good, though.

Hello there! If you’ve ever wanted to know how someone with Asperger’s syndrome thinks, the above is a perfect example. How do I know this? Because I have Asperger’s syndrome, and I’m proud of it. If you’re not already aware, Asperger’s is a high-functioning form of autism in which those afflicted suffer from impaired social understanding, sensory overloads, extreme obsessions, and (most of the time) heightened intellectual thought.

And yes, being smart is definitely something I suffer from. It’s great sometimes, sure, but when you combine it with my obsessions, I tend to obsess over how stupid the rest of the world can be. Like, for example, the naming of the pineapple.

That said, being an aspie does offer me my gifts, as well; I can hyper-focus, which sometimes means I’ll be so into something I wouldn’t hear a bomb go off, but this makes my hobby in Archery much easier for me. Many people with autism of any form are also very gifted in one specific subject, ranging from mathematics to science to the arts. The world’s greatest geniuses, such as Albert Einstein and Issac Newton, are suspected to be aspies as well, although we’ll never know for sure, since it’s pretty hard to test a dead person for autism…

That said, my particular talent has always been writing, something I’ve been talented at since I learned to do it. I can never get enough of it.

Thus, I tend to get carried away when writing, often to the point where I send someone a wall of text without intending to. So, I’ll have to tie this off here and say that I’m looking forward to writing with you all!
