Sequel to The Time We Have Left
Zachariah was born in the 22nd-century - living in the last days of the earth on the brink of collapse, where the last remnants of humanity huddled in domes that protected them from destructive weather patterns and a toxic atmosphere. After his mother’s death at the age of eight, Zachariah never knew what it was to have a proper childhood with parents who loved him. In a world with nothing left to hope for, he was tossed aside and grew up, barely surviving as an orphan amidst a society that had nothing for a child.
Summer was a former CPA who lived a safe and practical life until she made a huge life change in 2019 and decided to apply to the FBI academy to become a special agent. To Summer’s surprise, she not only survived her training but excelled and graduated third in her class with special honors.
Summer met Zachariah Smith. It started as a fairytale romance and evolved into so much more. Little did she know at first, Zach was an operative from the 22nd century who had traveled back to carry out a mission that would (hopefully) reverse the effects of climate change that had brought humans to the brink of extinction in his time. Summer was an integral part of his mission.
Slowly, through the building of trust and intimacy, Summer and Zach’s relationship survived and surpassed the lies in which it was based on and bloomed into something empowering, healing, and real. In the last few days of 2019, Summer and Zach got married in Italy and became the Hughes-Smiths.While the mission ended with a successful assassination, Summer was caught in the process, and Chrissy, a friend from Zach’s past, returned to save them by bringing them to the 22nd century to what appears to be an amazing eco-oasis. It appears the mission really did work!
But, the planet is still under threat, and humanity is at risk of making the same mistakes. Can Zach and Summer help protect what they saved?
