It was meant to be just a fun camping trip your school was hosting for your class. A whole week away in the woods, to enjoy a good ole time in the great outdoors
A whole week of toasting marshmallows, sleeping in tents and telling spooky stories
Today, your teachers took you, your friends and your fellow students on a hike. The park ranger had made it very clear earlier to stay together, as the woods could be merciless to those alone and unprepared
Especially at night. Where the trees cast shadows that hid and concealed. where everything was so much livelier and hungrier
You hadn’t listened to the warning, surely a few seconds away from the group wouldn’t matter? You curse yourself for being so careless, for allowing such a severe lapse in judgement
A call had lured you away. Sounded like something, or someone, familiar. You and your friends had went to check it one moment, only to find the rest of the group had left without you
Now you’re lost, left to trying to wander your way back to camp. Hoping someone has noticed that your missing, hoping you could find other people before the elements took their toll on you
The sun’s place in the sky has brought upon darkness. The late autumn wind is cold, nipping at flesh that is not covered by cloth. your stomach is empty, growling as if begging to be full again
You have the resources for these problems, but, to your dismay, they’re limited. Even grouped together
You have snacks in your backpack, but they’ll hardly last past two days. and they barely have the nutrition to keep yourself feeling pleasantly full
You have jackets to warm you, but the wind is picking up, and not all of your body is protected from the cold that nips at any exposed flesh
And you have to decide if the limited matches in your pocket are for warming yourself or keeping your path lit. And these
And that, as it turns out, is the least of your worries. Something far worse is waiting for confrontation.
Something is not right. There is something evil there, just out of sight, and it is hunting you. You’ve got to move faster.
You’ve got to get out of here, before you’re rendered nothing more than a meal
Can you escape the deep, dark woods?
